TRAINING

The following secondary school credit courses are available:

 

BTT 2OI - Introduction to Information Technology in Business
For those with little or no computer experience.  Preparation for IC3 certification and prerequisite for most other computer courses. Create, store, retrieve, save, documents and spreadsheets; computer hardware and electronic communication (internet).

 

EBT 4OI - Communication in Business & Technology
Prerequisite: BTT 2OI, Grade 10 English or equivalent
Practical writing and communication skills: write reports, letters, memos, manuals, instructions, brochures

 

Information Technology in Business Series
Preparation for Microsoft Office Specialist certification

 

BTA 30I - Part I
Prerequisite: BTT 20I
Word & Excel, Windows & file management; Preparation for core level tests in MS Word & Excel

 

BTX 4EI - Part II
Prerequisite: BTA 30I-Part I
Advanced skills in Word & Excel; Preparation for Expert level tests in MS Word & Excel

 

BTX 4CI - Part III
Prerequisite: BTA 30I or BTX 4EI
Basic to advanced Access, PowerPoint & Outlook; Preparation for Access & PowerPoint tests
HTML & Web design using Dream Weaver software

 

Times:

  • Daytime: Mon-Fri, 8:45 am-11:45 am or 12:30 pm-3:30 pm
  • Evenings: 5:00 pm-8:30 pm, 2-3 evenings per week (ONLY St. Louis – Kitchener, 80 Young St.)

Locations: St. Louis Adult Learning Centres, Kitchener & Cambridge
Fee: $20.00 counselling fee/year plus $80.00 refundable book deposit

COMPUTER SKILLS CERTIFICATION

Three options for certifying computer skills are available:

Computer Studies Certificate – Awarded upon completion of BTA 3OI, BTX 4EI, BTX 4CI computer course within three years at St. Louis.



IC³ Internet and Computing Core Certification* & Microsoft Office Specialist*

IC³ - Successful completion of 3 tests is required.

 

Microsoft Office Specialist - Successful completion of a single test in any or each application: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access

Test times

 

Tests take about one hour and are scheduled evenings:
Monday to Thursday from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm

 

Fees

 

IC³ - $ 50 / test
Microsoft Office Specialist - $110 / test
Practise tests - $10 / test -highly recommended
(not available for Outlook and IC3)
