Summer Boost Makes!

Open to WCDSB students currently enrolled in Senior Kindergarten to Grade 5 

Beginning July, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) will be offering 13 days of in-person FREE Literacy and Numeracy learning support for students currently in SK to Grade 5 inclusive through the Summer Boost program.

If you are interested in having your child bridge the gaps in learning, make new friends, hone Literacy and Numeracy skills through fun and engaging activities, learning more about mental health and resiliency, as well as weekly STEM challenges… then Summer Boost is here to support!

Students will…

  • Have a variety of opportunities for hands on learning through weekly STEM challenges and other outreach programs
  • Be served healthy snacks daily and will be engaged in regular physical activity that emphasizes teamwork, skills and sportsmanship;
  • Engage in fun literacy/numeracy activities at school and home with family members as part of the Home Numeracy/Literacy Program;
  • Receive an integrated arts education as cooperative activities will be designed each week to promote creative and thinking and expression through music, drama and visual arts;
  • Access technology including chromebooks, codable robots, micro:bits and more;
  • Make new friends and develop a belief in themselves as learners through the power of perseverance.

Note: Summer Boost is designed to support students on an IEP who experience gaps in their learning and could benefit from additional literacy and numeracy instruction.

Who Can Enrol?

As part of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board’s values, creating success for each and a place for all,  Summer Boost is a literacy and numeracy support program for students currently attending WCDSB in Senior Kindergarten to Grade 5.

Ask yourself:
  1. Would my child benefit from added instructional support at their grade level (Have they shown Level 1 or 2 in some areas of their progress reports)?
  2. Has your child’s day school teacher or principal recommended this program to be beneficial to your child?  If you are not sure, please email them.

Dates  / Times

July 2 to July 18, 2025
9:00am to 12:00pm (mornings only)

Monday to Friday

(no programming Monday, June 30 or Tuesday, July 1 – Canada Day)

 Total = 13 days

*Program changes may occur due to unforeseen circumstances or programming needs.

When registering, please select the program location in the community in which you live.

**NO STUDENT TRANSPORTATION is offered for Summer Boost Program.
