The delivery model could change to blended learning, where students would have the option to attend in school sessions as they complete the work online. UPDATE:

A Message from the International Languages Credit Program.  We are looking forward to the school year which is planned to start online.  The most recent update is the delay of the start of all International Languages Credit classes by one week: Mon. classes will start on Sept. 28 // Wed. classes on Sept. 30 // Sat. classes on Oct. 3.   We will continue to register students until the week of October 5, 2020.

Please note: Courses will run based on sufficient enrolment and are subject to cancellation.

Did you know there are many benefits of registering for the credit language courses?

  • Take International Languages Courses as an Elective Credit towards their Ontario Secondary Diploma.
  • Students in the Secondary International Languages program can earn up to three credits towards graduation.
  • Be better prepared for post-secondary studies in the fields of business, trade and communications
  • Successfully complete the Level D – University course and use it as one of the top six marks for post-secondary entry.

Once it is safe to return to in-school classes, International Language Credit Courses will be offered at three different locations and times during the week. They are also offered at different levels; please choose your course selection carefully. Read through the course offerings before completing the course selection form.

Secondary School Language Credits are valuable for youth and adults and up to 6 different languages are offered.  The following Secondary School Credit language classes are offered from September to June on

  • Monday evenings, 5:30pm -8:30pm
  • Wednesday evenings, 5:30pm – 8:30pm
  • Saturday mornings, 9:30am-12:30pm

Arabic is being offered starting this September at St. Louis – Main Campus, 80 Young St. Kitchener on Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm-8:30pm.

The International Languages Secondary Credit Program will help students:

  • Earn up to three elective secondary credits towards graduation and Ontario Secondary Diploma
  • Be better prepared for post-secondary studies in the fields of business, trade and communications
  • Successfully complete the Level D – University course and use it as one of the top six marks for post-secondary entry
  • Develop skills for international/ global employment opportunities
  • Foster global awareness and understanding

Earn one of the three components in the Waterloo Catholic District School Board’s International Certificate Program

International Languages – Secondary School Credit program is open to:

  • students under 18 currently attending day classes at ANY Secondary School
  • students over 18 currently earning secondary school credits in any other program at St. Louis
  • any adult who is an Ontario resident

If you are interested in this program, and unsure if it is right for you, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you have a child in Elementary school, consider exploring the International Languages – Elementary program available to them to learn a language for FREE.

All language credit courses, follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are accepted as credits towards an Ontario  Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).  Current graduation requirements recognize at least one credit in a third language and learning one of these languages may also be used toward a WCDSB International Certificate.  St. Louis offers up to 3 credits in each language and it take 110 hours of instruction to earn a credit.  At the beginning of secondary school credit class, teachers describe course outlines, learning outcomes, class expectations, attendance, assignments and culminating activities.

If you already have your OSSD and you are interested in pursuing formal education of learning a language for work, leisure or post-secondary purposes, the credit earned will be applied to your high school transcript, upon request.

As of September 1, 2020 THERE WILL BE NO $50 Registration FEE for taking International Languages-Secondary School Credit.

RETURNING STUDENTS:

High school students – must complete the online St. Louis International Language Credit Course Selection form that has been approved by your day school principal or Guidance Counselor.  Provide us with your Guidance counsellor’s email address and notify them of your registration of IL-Secondary credit classes

Adults – must complete the online St. Louis International Language Course Selection form along with uploaded ID and transcript to register. A St. Louis Guidance Counsellor will verify and confirm your registration.

NEW STUDENTS:

New Students must provide the following:

  • uploaded legal documents to substantiate legal name and date of birth, legal document to substantiate status in Canada, photo identification with current mailing address,
  • copy of Credit Counselling Summary or transcript or report card from previous high school,
  • completed online St. Louis International Language Secondary School Registration Form
