Our program will prepare students to provide supportive care to clients of all ages in various settings to improve the client’s quality of life
SKILL LAB (including Personal Hygiene testing) – 60 hours
Students will practice and be evaluated by the Instructor, on best practices in hand hygiene and PPE in the lab.
Through application of knowledge of the musculoskeletal system, the practice of good body mechanics and factors a affecting client function, the safe, efficient and comfortable methods to assist with mobility and transfer client is both taught and demonstrated. Students are expected to apply their skills through the use of scenarios at the bedside during lab practice and during demonstration of skills prior to facility placement. Evaluation of skills will be done by both the Instructor and Specialist. During placement, students are expected to follow the policies of the training organization and use the appropriate method of mobility for the client`s abilities.
Students will practice and be evaluated on their skills at demonstrating personal care in the lab setting prior to facility placement. They will be expected to apply their skills through the use of scenarios at the bedside and apply all their knowledge appropriately to the scenarios, in a professional manner. They must be able to demonstrate good critical thinking and apply all the acceptable practices taught during the evaluation process to the Instructor prior to facility placement. During placement, students are expected to demonstrate the skills taught in the classroom.
