Whether you’re returning to school, changing careers, or working toward a personal goal, St. Louis Guidance Counsellors are here to help. Our experienced educators and guidance professionals understand the unique needs of adult learners and can help you create a plan to reach your goals.

To get started, visit us in person with your personal identification and complete the Guidance Intake form onsite. Afterward, you can meet with a counsellor during office hours, Monday to Friday, in person, by phone, or virtually by appointment.

Requirements:

  • Students must meet ID requirements.
  • Students who wish to earn secondary school credits and previously attended or are currently attending ESL/LINC classes must provide verification of Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) 6 in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Students who attended regular high school in the last year must have a Principal to Principal Transfer Request Form sent to St. Louis prior to registration. Ask your current high school Guidance Counsellor to initiate this transfer request form.
  • Please bring an up-to-date resume, if you wish to have your work and volunteer experience recognized under PLAR.

Were you ever on an IEP?

If you require learning accommodations in any class at St. Louis, please contact our guidance staff.  You will need to provide documentation to support your learning accommodations:

  • a copy of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) from your former school
  • a medical note
  • or a Psycho-Educational Assessment (including tests of intelligence and cognitive abilities, memory, achievement tests, and measures of behaviour)

If  you do not have your OSSD and want support to achieve a Secondary School Credit course, consider starting with Core Essentials (an individualized learning support program for adults) at St. Louis – Kitchener Main Campus. Please contact stlouis@wcdsb.ca to find our which programs are offered in-person and remotely.

Understanding Your Graduation Requirements

Our Guidance Counsellors can help current and prospective students determine what courses or requirements are still needed to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). We can also answer questions about upgrading marks or taking additional secondary school credits after graduation.

If you already have your OSSD and would like to improve a grade or complete a College or University level secondary school credit, Guidance can help you understand how additional courses may affect your transcript and overall average.

Planning to Graduate?

If you expect to complete all OSSD requirements during the 2026-2027 school year, please notify Guidance by August 31, 2027.

Current students who have completed, or will soon complete, all graduation requirements, including 40 hours of community involvement, must submit an Intent to Graduate Form. Students who are not currently enrolled must first register and meet with, or contact, their assigned Guidance Counsellor.

Because the OSSD is an important credential for employment and further education, we look forward to celebrating this achievement with you.

Receiving Your Diploma

Ontario Secondary School Diplomas are issued once each year.
Diplomas cannot be mailed. To arrange pickup, please contact the St. Louis Main Office during office hours and bring valid photo identification.

Celebrate Your Achievement

Graduates may choose to have professional graduation photos taken. Highland Camera in Kitchener offers discounted photo packages to St. Louis graduates and appointments can be arranged directly through them at any time during the year.

Applying to College and University can be overwhelming.
You have to stay on top of all the steps, timelines and meet deadlines to get into the post-secondary program of your choice.

St. Louis Guidance staff are here to assist students with this process and are extremely knowledgeable about the numerous skills training and post-secondary certificate and degree programs across the province.

Current St. Louis Students: Complete your application through ontariocolleges.ca and then fill out the College Application Consent Form which is available through the Student Portal or by emailing your Guidance Counsellor.

If you need to make changes to the courses you intended to take this year for your college or university application, please complete the Post-Secondary Course Update Form available through the Student Portal or contact your Guidance Counsellor to request the direct link to the form.
