Online Learning

Online Learning means courses are specifically designed to be taught in a fully online format (formerly referred to as “e-learning”). Online learning relies on communication between pupils and teachers through the internet or any other digital platform and does not require pupils and teachers to be face to-face with each other or with their teacher. ONLINE classes are self-directed with no formalized class time or synchronous lessons.

  • Students must be online and working on their course for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
  • Final exams / culminating activities are online

Summer Credits@Work

Registration for Credits@Work for SUMMER has RE-OPENED and deadline to register is June 16

Students enrolled in Summer Credits@Work must have 90-110 hours of work and must submit all paperwork by  August 4, 2023 in order to receive a secondary school credit!

Registration Deadlines

Deadline to Register for summer Online course  Monday, June 26, 2023 at NOON

Important:
  • Students may only take ONE online FULL CREDIT course OR both Civics and Careers half courses
  • Students are expected to login to their courses each day for 6 hours each day (no exceptions)
  • Login Information for online courses will be emailed to the students one week prior to the start of the course.
  • Students can access the Student Information Sheet and Guidelines for Online Learning 

Summer School Registration information

  • Current high school students need your OEN and your current guidance counsellor’s email address.
  • Non-WCDSB current students must also complete the Guidance Intake Form and have their guidance counsellor send a transcript or credit counselling summary to: stlouisguidance@wcdsb.ca or fax to 519-745-9269 attention: Summer School Registrar
  • New Adult Students must complete the Guidance Intake Form and the New Student Information Form and send a transcript to stlouisguidance@wcdsb.ca with subject line: Summer School.  Please include your contact information in the body of the email and a St Louis Guidance Counsellor will contact your shortly
  • Returning St Louis students, please complete the Guidance Intake Form and indicate you want to sign up for summer school.

**All courses are subject to enrollment. in-person courses may be combined with online if registration is insufficient.

**Courses changes will NOT BE ALLOWED once classes begin.

Summer Online – Full credit course (110 hours – 6 hours per day):

Start Date: July 4 – July 28
Full Disclosure Date: July 17
Final Online Exam: July 28

Summer Online – Half credit course (55 hours – Civics and/or Careers – 6 hours per day):

Start Date Term 1: July 4 – July 17 / Final Exam: July 17
Start Date Term 2: July 17 – July 28 / Final Exam: July 28

Summer School Registration information:

Current WCDSB high school students need your OEN and your current guidance counsellor’s email address.

Important for Summer Online Students

  • ALL course content, assignments and exam will be online (ONLINE classes are self-directed with no formalized class time or synchronous lessons, however daily login is required to keep up with the pace of learning).
  • Students can expect that their online course will require a minimum of 6 hours of schooling each day.
  • Log-in is expected on the first day of class or they will be removed from the course.
  • Students should log in each day to see news from the teacher, to stay on top of readings and to complete assignments on their due dates. Students must be online for final exams on scheduled dates and times.
  • Vacation or work should be scheduled outside of summer school.  Assessment deadlines and exams will not be rescheduled.  If an exam is missed for medical reasons, a medical note will be required and at a cost to the student.
  • Summer Online courses are paid for by the Ministry of Education and there is no cost to students. Students are responsible for any and all printing costs.

Credits@Work is NOW FULL and we are not currently accepting students until September 2023

Students can earn 1 or 2 credits depending on the number of hours they work per week. To earn ONE Secondary School Credit, you must work 110 hours.  The first credit is 90 hours + a 20 hour online component.

Bridge to Success is a Gr. 9 credit program for WCDSB Grade 8 students starting Grade 9 at one of our Catholic Secondary Schools in Fall 2023.

Below is a full list of details that students must consider when registering for a Summer Secondary School Credit courses through St. Louis:

Student Information Sheet and Academic Responsibilities – READ CAREFULLY

Communication with Teachers:

  • Communication with Summer online teachers will be available electronically. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that communication is correct and regular.

Marks for Post-Secondary Schools:

  • If you would like marks sent to post-secondary institutions you must complete a consent form on the first day of the course and submit this form to the Guidance at St. Louis stlouisguidance@wcdsb.ca.
  • College applicants must login to their online application and add that they are currently attending St. Louis so that we can send your marks.

Final Report Cards:

  • Report cards will be sent inter-office mail to your current secondary school after Aug 31.  If you do not plan to return to your current high school, please be sure St. Louis has your current mailing address.
