Who Can Enroll?
- Grade 8 students who are coming from any public school system including the WCDSB, any private school, homeschooled or have recently moved / will move to the Region AND are enrolled in a Waterloo Catholic Secondary School.
- Parent Permission is required for students to participate in this program. Only Parents should register their Grade 8 child for HeadStart.
- Students should NOT be registering themselves for HeadStart.
Attendance
Commitment to attend ALL four days of HeadStart is expected and ensures optimal learning, the greatest benefit and the least disruption within this limited 12 – hour program.
If registered students can no longer attend all 4 days of the program for whatever reason, please let us know in advance.
HeadStart to Grade 9 Registration
- The HeadStart program is a voluntary, summer program and therefore is not part of the registration process for entering Grade 9 at our WCDSB Catholic Secondary Schools (CSS). Only students registered at a CSS will be accepted into the HeadStart program.
- If you are looking to register your child at one of our Catholic Secondary Schools during the summer months contact 519-578-3660 for more information. Unfortunately, we cannot accept HeadStart registrations during the summer months.
- FULL Commitment to attend ALL HeadStart dates ensures optimal learning, the greatest benefit and the least disruption within the limited hours the program is running.
- If students cannot attend for the full duration of the program, we ask that you NOT register for this program.
Important Registration Notes
- This program is voluntary and therefore is not part of the registration process for entering Grade 9 at our WCDSB Catholic Secondary Schools (CSS). Only students registered at a CSS will be accepted into the HeadStart program.
- Transportation to and from school is NOT provided for HeadStart
- If your child decides to enrol in a different high school or in another system, please notify BOTH the school AND stlouis@wcdsb.ca
Students New to WCDSB will be required to have identification verified by St. Louis summer staff.
If your child has a Plan of Care for a critical medical condition, you will be asked to provide a copy to St. Louis staff by no later than June 15, 2026
If your child is on an IEP and you believe sharing this information will support your child’s learning during this brief time period, please provide a copy to St. Louis staff by June 15, 2026.
