Requirements
- Are an adult age 18 years and older
- Have status in Canada
- Protected person (including Convention Refugee), or
- Permanent Resident, or
- Landed Immigrant
- Have a Canadian Language Benchmark assessment at levels from literacy to Level 4.
- Can fully attend classes regularly with an 80% attendance rate.
Fees
There is no fee to attend LINC Classes.
Attendance Policy
Attendance is important. You need to attend for the entire class time. You will be withdrawn from a class if you miss 80% of classes in a month regardless of reason.
Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada Registration
Step 1: Contact the YMCA Language Assessment Centre. They will book an appointment and tell you what documents to bring.

Step 2: Have your English language skills assessed for free. They will tell you your CLB benchmark numbers.
Step 3: A YMCA Assessor will refer you to a specific class or place you on a waiting list.
