Requirements

  • Are an adult age 18 years and older
  • Have status in Canada
    • Protected person (including Convention Refugee), or
    • Permanent Resident, or
    • Landed Immigrant
  • Have a Canadian Language Benchmark assessment at levels from literacy to Level 4.
  • Can fully attend classes regularly with an 80% attendance rate.

Fees

There is no fee to attend LINC Classes.

Attendance Policy

Attendance is important. You need to attend for the entire class time. You will be withdrawn from a class if you miss 80% of classes in a month regardless of reason.

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada Registration

Step 1:  Contact the YMCA Language Assessment Centre. They will book an appointment and tell you what documents to bring.

Step 2: Have your English language skills assessed for free. They will tell you your CLB benchmark numbers.
Step 3:  A YMCA Assessor will refer you to a specific class or place you on a waiting list.

We will contact students who have completed the online registration form above. LINC offices are open mornings only, 8:30 am -12:30 pm from Monday-Friday.
