Program Expansion and Living Classrooms

St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education’ PSW Program as part of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board received additional funding to expand the number of class offerings and provide continued wrap-around support to new St. Louis PSW students. For 25 years, the St. Louis PSW Program has offered free tuition paid for by the Ministry of Education and has requested students to pay a reasonable materials fee that would cover textbooks, uniforms and additional certificates.

What’s even more exciting is that our Living Classroom approach to PSW training has received significant support to create 3 Living Classrooms within 3 partnering Long-Term Care Homes (Parkwood Mennonite, Fairview Mennonite and Sunnyside Homes) as well as continued financial support that will reduce barriers to students completion of the program.  The Living Classroom program is funded by the Government of Ontario and led by the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging (RIA) through the Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care (Ontario CLRI) in partnership with the Ontario Association of Adult and Continuing Education School Board Administrators (CESBA).

Stay tuned for details in the Fall!
