Requirements

• All students must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Students under 18 will be considered if they have already achieved the OSSD.
• All students must meet ID Requirements.
• Students who wish to earn secondary school credits and previously attended or are currently attending ESL/LINC classes must provide verification of Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) 6 in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.   If English is not your first language, please bring your CLB assessment documents from class or from the YMCA Language Assessment Centre to the Hairstyling Intake.
• All students must have completed a minimum of 16 secondary school credits prior to enrolling in the St. Louis Hairstyling Program.
• Be willing to work flexible hours in work placements with one of our salon partners.

All individuals with some previous hair, barber or aesthetics employment skills are welcome; however, you do not have to have prior salon experience or have a completed high school diploma to be accepted. You will earn credits toward your high school diploma or upgraded credits on your transcript.

Fees

Students pay a materials fee of $1690 for textbooks, hair kits, colour and other consumables + hairstyling exemption exam fees of $310. The total amount due before the beginning of the course is $2000.

No refund will be granted after the applicant has attended the first class.

Intake sessions are mandatory as part of the application process for the program. The upcoming intake sessions will be held on:

• September 23, 2026 to start on November 27, 2026
• January 13, 2027 to start on March 8, 2027
• May 5, 2027 to start in September 2027

Step 2: Attend the next Intake Session – September 23, 2026 at 4:00pm.
